Supporting Plugins

Installation

The Morroblivion v68 installer automatically detects legal Morrowind and Oblivion installations before deploying the Morroblivion files. Install xOBSE separately, along with any OBSE / xOBSE plugins required by the Morroblivion options you enable.

As of Morroblivion version 68, the installer can automatically detect your installed Morrowind and Oblivion directories. When prompted for the Morroblivion installation directory, you may select your Oblivion directory or choose a different managed-mod directory if your setup requires one.

Please note that the official Installation Instructions topic and the PCGamingGoodies Video Installation are outdated for v68 and newer. They are still useful legacy references for load order, compatibility, and additional setup details not fully covered by the current installer.

Compatibility

Morroblivion Compatibility Patches

Morroblivion is located in a separate worldspace. It is generally compatible with mods that modify Oblivion's worldspace, including OOO, MMM, FCOM, Unique Landscapes, Better Cities, and similar Oblivion-focused mods, but those mods do not directly modify the Morroblivion worldspace.

Morroblivion is compatible with, and affected by, mods that modify Oblivion gameplay mechanics, including combat, magic, stealth, leveling, UI, and related systems.

The latest version is not compatible with most Morroblivion mods created before 2014, nor with original ESP Converter-based mods, unless the mod page specifically states that the mod has been updated or tested for the current release.

Potential incompatibility: Any mod that uses an older version of Morrowind_ob.esm as its master may be incompatible with the current release.

Starting the Game / World Transport

Alternate Start

Starting a new game with Morrowind_ob.esm active works as an alternate start. Instead of beginning in the Imperial City Prison, the game begins in the hold of the prison ship in Seyda Neen. As a result, the Oblivion Main Quest does not start automatically. A World Transport option can be used to start the Oblivion Main Quest.

World Transport

Being updated. The Oblivion Main Quest starts through a corpse outside the Imperial Prison Sewers.

Stability and Performance

If you experience seemingly random crashes, especially in wilderness areas, the cause is commonly related to cell-buffer overrun rather than a problem with a specific cell. Oblivion was not designed to load a project on the scale of Morrowind and all its denizens, but the following steps can reduce crashes.

  1. If you have 4 GB or more of RAM and are running a 64-bit version of Windows, apply the 4GB Patch to Oblivion.exe. This allows the 32-bit executable to use up to 4 GB of virtual memory instead of the usual 2 GB limit.
  2. Decrease graphical settings or install FastLOD with your preferred add-on.
  3. Install the recommended OBSE / xOBSE stability and performance plugins listed above.

Load Order and File Details

Morrowind_ob.esm

Main data file for Morroblivion. It contains the core landmass, dialogue, quests, and related records.

This file is required for Morroblivion to function.

Load order: Load directly after Oblivion.esm unless you are using EngineBugFixes. Even with EngineBugFixes, keeping this legacy order is still a safe baseline.

Morrowind_ob.esp

Loads the Morroblivion BSA archives and helps resolve possible conflicts with other mods.

This file is required for Morroblivion to function.

Load order: Load after any mod that changes vanilla idle animations, such as Personality Idles.

Note: This file contains one intentional ITM record. Do not clean it with xEdit.

Morrowind_ob - UCWUS.esp

Restores functionality for enchanted items with the "Cast When Used" enchantment.

This file is recommended for the full Morroblivion experience.

Load order: Load after Morrowind_ob.esp, with the other Morroblivion plugins. If you use Morroblivion clothing replacers with this plugin, create a Bashed Patch.

Morrowind_ob - Conversation.esp

Adds original Morrowind voiced lines to NPCs. Recommended for a more nostalgic Morrowind experience.

Load order: Load after Morrowind_ob.esp, with the other Morroblivion plugins.

Morrowind_ob - MorroblivionTreeReplacer.esp

Replaces default Morrowind trees with Oblivion-style trees.

Load order: Load after Morrowind_ob.esp, with the other Morroblivion plugins.

Any Morroblivion Map Replacers

Any plugin or replacer that alters the Morrowind map.

Load order: Load after all other Morroblivion mods.

Optional Add-ons / Resources

Thanks a ton, Brainslasher! You're always super helpful when I have a problem.

Has anyone tried the Tribunal misc quest "The Thief"? It starts fine, but when I get to the part where I have to turn the crank to cause the water to lift the crates, nothing happens. The water level doesn't rise. The crosshair that appears when looking at the crank is the closed fist icon.

If you aren't sure which quest I'm talking about, here is the UESP wiki entry:

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tribunal:The_Thief

You don't have to raise the crates, just go through the sewer grate that the crates are standing on.

I'm an idiot. -_-

Thanks. I was so busy trying to do it the way I knew it was supposed to work that I didn't even check to see if the door was visible.

Just wanted to update you all I got Morroblivion working after I manually put the Resource stuff into the data file as someone icr the username suggested thank you ever so much for that! and its workin like a charm so yeah been enjoying it.

One reported problem with the faction expulsion, in chat today.  If you become Archmage (by killing Trebonius), and then later get expelled, the guild masters will tell you to go to Trebonius to make amends.  Which you can't do, cause he's dead.

hi all =D I upgraded morroblivion version fron 0.53 to 0.63. All my characters ahve been disbanded by guilds. I have a big problem with mage guild: I killed Trebonius (old archmage) to become new archmage, so I can not do amends. :(
Karma: 0 (0 votes)

Fair chance Saves from V053 are not going to Work for V063 with out having a Lot of Problems, would be better to Start a New Game..

yes, this is right ...should be better start with a new game.
Anyway there is a solution with the problem of the magic guild by using two console commands:
PCClearExpelled "Mages Guild"
Set ExpMagesGuild to 0
But it's a solution for Morrowind console so must be translated in a string command for Oblivion. Could you please help me??

If you're careful to notice anything unusual it shouldn't be necessary to start a new game. In this case you don't actually have to talk to Trebonius. All he tells you, is to wait for a week or two and you'll be reinstated. This will happen either way though. Just wait for 30 days anywhere or for 10 days in one of the mages guilds and you will be reinstated automatically. Talking to him isn't even necessary. However the others really shouldn't tell you to talk to him.

uhuhuhu I read about waiting, but never tryed...I supposed first talk with Trebonius and then wait for reinstate. Anyway I'll try...

yes, it's right, you don't need to talk Trebonius to be reinstated, you need to wait a number of days. when the necessary time has elapsed pops up a message and you are reinstated to mages guild. xD

Is it really necessary to have OBSE because it wont download on my computer.  Is it possible to not have it?

thank you for telling me.

For some reason when I first go to morrowind, Jiub will not talk to me and initialize the main quest. I dont know what I did wrong. Other people won't actually talk either, though the dialogue menu thing appears. Any suggestions on how to fix this will be useful. Another possibly related problem is that on the ships between the places, many of the walls are a light purple color with no texture. I'm not sure if this is related to the other thing, but i would like it to be fixed.

You have got Morrowind_ob - Meshes\Textures\Sounds.bsa in your Oblivion\Data Directory

With Oblivion.esm

        Morrowind_ob.esm

Has to be in This Order

And Morrowind_ob.esp lower down in Load Order

Did Download the Latest Version of the Transport Mod

Not the Version in the 2gig Resource file.

I tried that, but it still doesn't work. I also saw that many of the mushrooms in Morrowind are also Purple, like the ship. When I start a new file it automatically starts me in Morrowind, and starts the main quest, but the ship is still purple.

Purple Mushrooms Install Shivering Isles. If you want to Start in Oblivion ( Cyrodiil ) you will need a Transport Mod

I installed Shivering isles, but it still is purple on the ship, and I assume the mushrooms. Plus, The main quest still won't start when I go to Morrowind from Cyrodil.

do I have to have Shivering Isles load before Morrowind_ob.esm?

Okay, i got the purple to go away, but the main quest still won't work.

Are you trying to start a new game in Morrowind or are you trying to travel there from an already existing character? Are you using Oblivion Script Extender? What's your load order? Are you using the latest patch?

Is the unofficial patch actually required? It's listed on the download page, but not on the installation instructions.

I love playing Morroblivion. It is hard to imagine playing Morrowind any other way.

However, the biggest problem for me right now is travel-related. After installing version 63a (replacing the previous version) Mage Guild Guide, Ship, and Silt Strider travel stopped working for me. The dialog works, the travel agent (Mage, Shipmaster, or Caravaner) takes the money but we go nowhere.

Oblivion-style fast travel works flawlessly but it sure is a long swim to Solsthiem to do the Airship quest.

Any suggestions?  I am attaching my load order in a seprate file.

That's strange. Was it v062 you used before or did you update from an older version? What version of OBSE are you using?

Try deactivating Morroblivion mods which do not come as part of the main package and see if it fixes your problem.

Before this version I used 62.

I have OBSE 0021-379-0021 installed.

Per your suggestion I de-activated any mod that was not part of the main package. Mage Guide, Silt Strider, and Ship travel all worked properly.

When I re-activated Vvardenfell Imports, Mage Guide travel failed like before. I didn't try the others but assumed the same thing would have happened.

I thought Vvardenfell Imports was needed for some other mod, but will try to get along without it until it is fixed.

On a related note, Protocolled Dialogs started working properly as well with Vvardenfell Imports de-activated.

I will keep trying with my other Morroblivion mods one-by-one and let you know if the problem re-occurs. Some of the player homes are really nice. I would like to keep them.

Vvardenfell Imports adds a shop in Cheydinhal with Morrowind-style armors for sale. Morroblivion only uses some resources from there, but the original mod is not required and esp itself has no connection to Morroblivion. I don't know why it intereferes with another mod's scripts like that and suggest just leaving it deactivated.

There are a couple of others in Load order could be Removed.

Roxon_55 says I don't need Vvardenfell Imports (VI), so I am going to remove it completely. A few other problems in my load order list were also identified by Roxon_55. After I make those fixes I will run the game again and see what happens.

I was a little hasty about VI as the problem. Because when I launched the game again later the broken travel problem came back.

Removed the problem mods Roxon_55 identified but still no joy. Mage Guild Guide travel does not work so presumably neither does travel by Ship or Silt Strider. Also I am now having random crashes using my latest saved game file.

So I am re-installing Morroblivion v63a now. On the bright side this is forcing me to pare down the number of mods I install to a precious few.

Start your Oblivion when you Install It \Shivering Isles\UOP,Find a Bed make Shore all is OK Then Install you Morroblivion, join a Guild so you can try a Bed. If all OK then Start installing your Mods 1 At a time to see if you can Re_Create the Same Problem to Find out which files could be Causing the Problem.

Delete your Oblivion.ini after Uninstalling Oblivion.

Make shore you Install MenuQue\Obse\Ely_Silent Voice Before you Install Morroblivion.

I deleted and re-installed Oblivion through Steam. I also deleted all my saved games and started over. So far everything seems to be working fine. Just took my first Silt Strider trip and everything worked like it is supposed to.

Thanks again for your help!

OBSE/MenuQue/Ely_Silent Voice were all installed before Morroblivion as I have other mods that need them.

But Mage/Ship/Silt Strider travel has stopped working again. It seems to work for a while after a new Oblivion installation through Steam and then it fails again.

Also Chargen and Transport quit. I created a new character but he appeared in the Imperial City Prison not the Prison Ship arriving in Morrowind. Using the latest version of CAT I have never seen a menu of choices as to where to place the character. For a while my only option seemed to be in Morrowind -- which was OK with me. Someday I would like to take my character to Cyrodiil but it looks like there are a lot barriers to doing that right now.

I am re-installing Oblivion again because I really enjoy Morroblivion -- warts and all.

If you going to do A Clean Installation would you like to Change your Load Order and Run your Game to see if you Can get the Same Problem.  with only these file  These Mods Installed in TXT file  if possible in same Load Order.

CAT doesn't have a menus anymore, starting location is set from Morroblivion.ini file.

Thanks Roxon_55. I am going to play for awhile but will try your solution later and let you know what happens. It might be a week or two because I am getting ready for college now. I am a new professor and have a lot of preparation to do.

So I started the game in the prison Ship in Morrowind and everything was going very well, but as I wanted to travel to Cyrodil i simply wasn't able to find the ships !

There is noone in Seyda Neen, who could bring me to Cyrodiil. So i went to look for someone else in Ebonheart, but there i had the same Problem. Those are bad news for me, as I actually wanted to start my game in the Imperial Prison in Cyrodiil, to travel to Vvardenfell later on.

I'm using the newest version of Morroblivion, with two additional mods. This is my load order :

Can someone help ?

You need a separate mod ("Chargen and Transport Mod") to go to Cyrodiil.

Understood. I downloaded and installed it. But is there are way, to begin the Morroblivion v063 game, in Cyrodiil ? With the tutorial in the imperial prison ?

This needs to be set in the Morroblivion.ini found in data/ini .

So I am playing for a while now, and the game runs really great, very stable and smooth. Really great work.

But I noticed that some summon spells are missing, and others don't match with their descriptions. I was going to buy 3 spells - 1.Summon greater Bonewalker (from Uleni Harelan) 2. Summon Bonelord and 3. Summon Winged Twilight (from Felen Maryon).

I can buy the first and second spell, but instead of summon a Bonewalker, i get a headless zombie (for 400 mana points, which is a little bit harsh) . And instead of a Bonelord, i get a lich. Even though the name of the spell, says, that it should be a Bonelord.

And the Summon Winged Twilight spell simply does not exist (though Maryon is the only person in Morrowind, who sells this spell).

This surprised me a bit, because I have met those creatures, plundering a few caves, so they have been converted into Morroblivion, but why can't I summon them then ?

Correct me if I'm wrong.

The Lost Magic Plugin fixes this, though at some point those spells should be converted to their original creatures in the master file.

though at some point those spells should be converted to their original creatures in the master file.

Nope. Not possible without OBME.

Ok, thanks for the plugin xD

Hello [External image]

After 2  hours of hard work and facing non-existent READMEs i somehow managed to get through the installation instructions. It doesn't work (as expected TBH because of the different versions i use). Oblivion.exe crashes right after the start. But before i start downloading Oblivion again i have 1 question that may solves my problem: is the language important? Can they be mixed? I use a german Morrowind GOTY and an english Oblivion GOTY (Steam both): Could it cause any trouble?

Greetz [External image]

Oblivion language is not important for Morroblivion. It shouldn't matter Morrowind language too.

Hello, is there an ETA for v64 version that integrates Debugged Bloodmoon? Thanks for the work!

No. It'll be available when it's done.
